碗碗腔现代戏《骄杨之恋》取材于杨开慧烈士大气磅礴而又悲情壮丽的真实故事，以独特视角展示了杨开慧从认识自我、寻求自我、实现自我，到牺牲小我，成全大我——“用生命拥抱死亡，用死亡礼赞生命”的心路历程。通过对杨开慧的英雄、母性、女性等不同人格侧面的刻画，艺术地再现了杨开慧由对丈夫、亲人的爱恋，升华为对祖国、对民族、对人民、对土地的眷恋——超越世俗、超越生死、超越爱情、超越亲情，成长为一个纯粹的理想主义者的人生轨迹，彰显了第一代共产党人坚守理想与信念的崇高品格，面临生死决择时体现出来的信仰力量和人性光辉。

The Modern Wanwanqiang Opera “A Woman and Her Passion during Revolution” is based on the grand but sad story about Yang Kaihui’s martyrdom, and shows from a unique perspective Yang Kaihui’s journey from knowing herself, seeking herself and realizing herself, to sacrificing herself for a noble cause, “embracing death with life and praising life with death”. Through the portrayal of different facets of Yang Kaihui’s personality, such as heroic, maternal and feminine, it artistically recreates Yang Kaihui’s journey from her love for her husband and relatives to her attachment to her country, her nation, her people and her land – transcending worldliness, life and death, love and affection, as she grows into a pure idealist. The trajectory of her life highlights the noble character of the first generation of communists who held fast to their ideals and beliefs, and the strength of their faith and the brilliance of humanity when they were facing the choice of life and death.

陕西省戏曲研究院前身是1938年在延安成立的陕甘宁边区民众剧团，下设秦腔团、青年团、眉户碗碗腔团、小梅花秦腔团及艺术创作研究中心、演员演奏员培训基地，拥有3位国家级非物质文化遗产传承人、14位“梅花奖”和9位“上海白玉兰戏剧表演奖”等众多表演艺术家，各门类艺术精英荟萃。创演了《血泪仇》《千古一帝》《梁秋燕》《迟开的玫瑰》《大树西迁》《西京故事》《关西夫子》等一大批具有深远影响和荣获全国级大奖的优秀剧目。曾多次作为中华文化的代表出访海外演出，为民族戏曲事业的繁荣做出了积极贡献。

The Shaanxi Opera Research Institute was formerly known as the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Area Popular Drama Troupe, which was established in Yan’an in 1938. There are multiple performing arts organizations under it, including the Qinqiang Opera Troupe, the Youth Troupe, the Meihu Wanwanqiang Troupe, the Little Plum Blossom Qin Opera Troupe, the Artistic Creation Research Centre and Training Base for Actors and Performers. It has three national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritors, fourteen “Plum Blossom” award winners, and nine “Shanghai Magnolia Theatre Performance” award winners, amongst a large number of elite performers in various disciplines of art. The Institute has created a large number of outstanding plays with far-reaching influence that have won national awards, such as “Feud of Blood and Tears”, “An Emperor of All Time”, “Liang Qiuyan”, “Late Blooming Rose”, “The Great Tree Moves West”, “The Story of Xi’an” and “Guanxi Fuzi”. The Institute has given multiple performances overseas as a representative of Chinese culture and has made positive contributions to the thriving of national opera.
