“垮掉的一代”是第二次世界大战后风行于美国的文学流派。该流派的作家都是性格粗犷豪放、落拓不羁的男女青年，他们拒绝承担任何社会义务，蔑视社会的法纪秩序，讨厌机器文明，永远寻求新的刺激，以此向体面的传统价值标准进行挑战，因此被称作垮掉的一代。代表作家有金斯堡及其作品《嚎叫》。

 

2. 华尔街的“民意”（public opinion on Wall Street）

华尔街是美国纽约的一条街。17世纪时，华尔街是贸易中心和贩卖黑奴的市场，二战后，这里成了美国重要的金融中心。华尔街便是美国垄断资本的代名词，华尔街的“民意”即指美国垄断资本家的意愿。
